Ron Magril

Ron Magril (born November 30th, 1997) is a rising jazz guitarist and composer from Tel Aviv, Israel.

These days, He is performing regularly as a leader and as a sideman with leading artists such as ‘Sugarman 3’ , having played at some of the world’s most known Jazz festivals and venues.

He started his musical journey at a young age, with his classical violinist grandfather teaching him to play the violin, he then fell in love with the guitar, and studied at Israel’s top jazz schools.  Ron was awarded a scholarship from the “New school” in New York (2019), the AICF (2018-2020) and ‘Ran Baron’ excellence scholarships (2016). Ron was  supported by the Israel’s Ministry of culture and sports (2021).

Ron’s sound is inspired by the Hard Bop of the 1950’s and 1960’s. His music and playing attempt to recreate the vibe and the sound of this genre, while evolving modern concepts and sounds into a compilation of old and new.

As a leader, Ron released 2 albums.

His debut album “Until Now” on the British jazz label “Ubuntu Music” (2022). The album features original music that inspired by the sound of the Hard Bop of the 1950’s and 1960’s. The band features Ron Magril on Guitar and Compositions, Avshalom Meidan on Piano, Oren Hardy on Contrabass and Ofri Nehemya on Drums. After the release of the album, The quartet toured the U.K to celebrate the release of their debut album.

And “Inspired”, on Italian label ‘Gleam Records’ (2025) . This album features Ron in a dynamic Organ trio setting with the great Yonatan Riklis (Hammond B3) and Ofri Nehemya (Drums). Together they explore Ron’s compositions in a soulful , swinging session which pays tribute to Ron’s musical heroes – Wes Montgomery and Grant Green .
